Scott Rosey Update page:

3/28/09-

Hey all,

We got some more encouraging news today.  Scott did get in to have hopefully his finally surgery on his wrist and ankle today.  He had a rod put in his leg and will need to be off it for 4-6 weeks and the wrist was fixed which should be fine.  The doctors took out the sutures in his eye lids so once the swelling goes down he will be able to open them and the swelling in his face has started to go down as well.

This is all some great progress!

Hello All,

Well just a quick update on Scott.  Everything pretty much the same as on Wednesday.  He is more alert and definately able to recognize peoples voices.  His eyes/face are still pretty swallen due to the trauma.  He is trying to communicate with his family and friends a bit more which is really encouraging.  They are still waiting to complete his wrist/ankle surgery until he gets a bit stronger, he has a feeding tube due to his jaw being wired shut so they need to get some more nutrients in first.  They are hoping Sat or Sun now to get this accomplished.  Once this surgery is complete that should be the last of the surgerys needed.

Once I have more I will make sure I update you all,

Thanks

Update on Scott. The facial surgery went well and they didn't have to make any incisions to his face. He , to my surprise, has all his chicklets in place! yay. They postponed his surgery, for his arm and leg, today due to a SLIGHTLY irregular heartbeat. A cardiologist was called in to evaluate the cause. Scotts Mom said Tiffany (cannolis sister in law, and Scotts nurse)is the greatest. As far as his stay at Duke, 2-3 weeks in ICU then a couple weeks more before he is sent back to Pittsburgh. Oh and his Mom said Scott is not allowed to ride motorcycles anymore!

Good evening all, Well I have some really good news to report.   We received news earlier today from Scott’s mom and dad that he is responsive and aware.  His Dad said when he told Scott he was there, Scott gave a thumbs up! J  The doctors are expecting to be able to fix his face and tomorrow he will undergo surgery to finish repairing his ankle and forearm.  At this time, Scott can receive cards, balloons and stuffed animals (lol), he may not receive any plants or flowers.  Below is the address if you would like to send any of these items. Duke University Medical Center2301 Erwin RoadDurham, NC 27710Room # 2214 We are also starting to spread the word and collect donations to help with anything Scott and the family will need in the upcoming months.   As you can imagine his family has a lot of traveling back and forth from Pittsburgh to Raleigh to do.  Scott’s mom’s paypal account is  Car_bearrunv@hotmail.com Or if you like I have set up a link on my web site www.empty-pockets-racing.com you can use that is linked directly to her paypal account as well.

Hello all, I just wanted to pass along an update as of 3:30 PM or so today.  We just got a call from Scott’s parents and everything is pretty much the same as last night.  The hematoma in this brain has not gotten any bigger which has the Doctors pleased.  He is still heavily sedated to keep him comfortable and a plastic surgeon is coming in tomorrow to see how to proceed with that aspect of the surgery.  They are anticipating keeping him at Duke for 2-3 weeks before the possibility of bringing him back to Pittsburgh.   Sorry that is all I have for now.  Please keep Scott and his family in your thoughts and prayers and I will update you all the next time I have more info.
